Reading and Writing and Inspiration

G'day, all!

I'm in the middle of a breakdown. I'm trying to work on my new novel, but the inspiration is just gone. And it's difficult, especially since I want to get the first draft done by the end of the month. I find it completely difficult to get going, to get sorted through the story. And this, I note, is a problem I have ALL the TIME. I start writing, am excited, and then one day... POP! A switch gets thrown, and I can't get through it.

Sigh.

SO. As I struggle to get back on track, (and having just finished re-reading the entire Harry Potter series), I'm trying to remember all the great things that inspire me. Music, eye candy, plot devices... Does listening to music enough eventually throw you out of the writing mood altogether, or does it continuously help?

I don't know. I think I'm just a slacker sometimes.

Well, in the meantime, here's some eye candy.

  1. You're stressing. That doesn't help. You have a pic of David, up there, so how about watching some XFiles? The god of cliff-hangers and dangling story-lines, Chris Carter, is always good for some inspiration.

Have a cup of tea. Light a candle. And oogle your eye candy.

  3. Yes, I am stressing. I've been listening to Mark Snow's music, which is always great--except that gets me sidetracked on a different story I'm writing :)

    /hugs Ash/ I do. I really do.

  4. I've never written anything worth reading so I can't really help you there but it sounds like you just need to relax a little and quit worrying about your deadline you want to finish by. Remember why you started writing in the first place, it should inspire you to at least keep going and looking in new places for inspiration if your eye candy doesn't really help (I don't understand why it wouldn't) :-)
