Paradise Valley

'Ello, all!

Had a great time at Paradise Valley, home of my former boss Kris Leathers, who is keeping her new store in great shape. Thanks of course to Tony who set me up something awesome. I had a great table, at the front of the store, and was kind of the official greeter, which worked out great.

Amusing: he told me if I kept doing such a great job greeting, they'd have to put me on payroll. *smiles* Silly; I AM on payroll--just down in Mesa!

I had a blast talking to people there. I also have two possible mentions to come speak at book clubs. That would be amazing! So, we'll see what happens. There are so many young people who are starting writing: I met two great teens who are hyping mythology and vampires. Best of luck to you, Alyssa and Robin!

Thank you PV for having me out there, and thanks, Kris! I'm sure I'll come out soon.

My last signing is going to be next weekend, July 31st, in Tucson at the Broadway Borders.

Have a great one, and blessed be, all!

Good times

The signing at Mesa was yesterday, and while it was actually fairly slow that day, I still got to talk to a lot of interesting people. It amazes me how many people are actually always talking about writing. So many women I spoke with said that they had a book started but never found the time, or converted to short stories, or want to write a book, and they asked me how I got started. Well, since I started with a self-published title and I work for Borders which has earned me the round trip signings, I suppose it's been a smidgen easier for me. I'm not raking in sales yet, but I'm making them here or there.

Everyone wishes me congratulations and good luck, which is well appreciated. I remind myself that it's about networking: get my name out there, connect with people. And that's what I did yesterday. It was nice. I actually love meeting people that way; it's a much different experience than meeting people while I sell coffee. When I'm at the table, I'm free to walk, to embrace any topic that comes out, and to use the time to find out more about the people.

SO! On that note, I have two more signings to announce:

Saturday, July 24th, 2010
2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Borders Books and Music
4555 E. Cactus
Phoenix, AZ

Saturday, July 31st, 2010
2:00-4:00 p.m.
Borders Books and Music
5870 E. Broadway Blvd #448
Tucson, AZ

Noticing a pattern yet?

Well, Borders has been great to me. Thank you to Josh Canham, Cynthia Coughlin and Robin C at Borders, Mesa, for yesterday!

I hope to see more lovely people soon.

One Good Signing Deserves Another

Hello, all! Got back from my Tucson signing, and it was wonderful. The Borders crew was wonderful, very helpful and friendly, and they had a LOT of my books stocked up. It was really cool to see all of those in one place. And I had a great little area to myself, which was fun. I brought in my own sign, and had fun.

Got to talk to a lot of great, interesting people, including a young lady who is starting to write young adult fiction. Exciting! So if a new author named Kaci hits the young adult market, we'll be watching. Wound up selling 4 books, which was awesome. I handed out a lot of my cards and postcards.

So thank you Borders for a great event! Thank you Laureen Stadle for setting it up, to Steve and James and all the wonderful staff who took care of me while I was there. Much love!

My wonderful husband Chris was along, watching the boy. Both of them are SO supportive.

Next up:

Next Saturday, July 10th, I will be signing at the Borders Books and Music in Mesa!

2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Borders
1361 S. Alma School Road
Mesa, AZ

I'll be looking forward to seeing more great people on my new home turf :)

Also:

I am tentatively schedule for Paradise Valley Borders store on July 24th at 2:00 p.m. More info once that is confirmed.

In the meantime, take care of each other and our planet. Mother Nature holds our lives in her hands.

Love to all,
Maggie
